Will change of birth affect an ILR application?

Post by Thetruthprevials » Wed May 29, 2013 4:15 pm

A friend of mine has a travel document (passport style) and she is eligible for ILR next year. She put in a wrong date of birth when when she got her travel document. She wants to change this for the ILR application. With proof (birth certificate) will this affect her ILR application in anyway?

Thanks

Can't she just get the dates fixed on her travel document?

It is too far gone i am afraid. She has travelled on it a few times and she is due to travel soon (document expires in February 2014). I was thinking if she presented a copy of her birth certificate during ILR or wait till she is eligible for British citizenship then change the date?

How bad are we talking?

Are we talking about two dates transposed?

Or are we talking about a complete fabrication - e.g. DOB on document 15/12/1954 ... actual DOB 20/05/1970?

Either way - fix now - not later.

British Citizenship can be rescinded if they believe the application is false.
