OCI granted but have now renewed UK passport since applic'n

Post by sumeet66 » Thu May 30, 2013 11:50 am

Struggling to get any response from High commission in UK either on the phone or by email and am not close to their office. After several months, my OCI is showing online as having been granted this month and available in London.

I would like to send my documents by post which they allow, however my issue is that as my UK passport was expiring I have renewed it since the original application was made at the start of the year. I have both the new UK passport and the cancelled old passport.

Can anyone advise what I need to do? I do want to go to London in person as I live far away. I have seen an on-line miscellaneous form for change of passport but it looks like that is more if I already had a OCI in an existing passport and I am sending in mine for the first time, also its not clear if you go down this route, do you need to send another photo along with the passports, what are the fees, etc. , so if anyone could elaborate on what I need to do that would be great.

you have made your life complicated my friend! either you should have renewed UK passort prior OCI application or should have waited until OCI was granted.

i can't provide official confirmation and I suggest you keep emailing them (instead of phone so that you have written confirmation) - however in my opinion you need to go for miscellaneous service route to get OCI onto your new passport.

Yes realise that now but its what I do now. There's no one out there from their side who is contactable, if only they had similar set-up and level of service to the UK agencies. Have tried emailing but still still haven't replied to an email I sent in Jan at the start of the process so not holdimng out for answer on recent emails re above issue.

On the miscellaneous route, it's what you need to send to accompany the on-line form that's not clear. I could take a guess but it will then be another month before they reply by post.
