Registration with HMRC (HSMP extension related)

Post by Sprite » Mon Feb 12, 2007 3:51 am

Dear All,

Please, help me out with the following question. My one-man limited company started trading a few months ago (falling into 2006/07 tax year). During the same period, I have also been in full-time employment for another employer. The latter income can be easily proved as I will be able to show employer’s documents and wage-slips with NIC, income tax etc.

With regards to the earnings from my Ltd, I didn’t pay myself any salary but paid a dividend in January 2007. From some posts (ajani – special thanks for these), I can see that it is advisable to provide documents from HMRC. I understand it is straightforward to prove that my company has been registered for corporation tax, but is there any way to register this dividend (tax credit), or obtain any other documents from the tax office related to tax registration? (Taking into account that PAYE hasn’t yet been set up for my company, whilst HSMP extension application needs to be submitted within the next couple of weeks.)

Thanks in advance!

Sprite,
It is difficult to rationalise why you want to apply under the transitional arrangement for self employed if you are in full time employment.
I can understand running your own company and working part-time. You have to look at this properly before forwarding your application.

ajani,

Thanks for your prompt response. Let me explain my case. I am hoping to score 75 if I combine my employment and self-employment as previous earnings. I am indeed running my own company and have also started working for another employer. Because I’ve been with this employer for about half a year -- and although the post is permanent and annual salary would be sufficient to qualify -- I still need to provide this additional income (dividend) as it is the last twelve months earnings rather than current annual salary that is required to be proved. So, with regards to Ltd and dividends paid, I am trying to figure out which registration for tax purposes can be done and how.
