Got EEA family permit... need advise for what next ...

Post by ice_breaker » Fri May 31, 2013 10:41 pm

Hi there guys,

I have got my EEA family permit within 11 working days and now planning to travel UK with my EEA national wife. In our EEA1&EEA2 application we will declare ourselves as job seekers.

1. Assuming we dont have to send our bank statement or to show any kind of funds. correct me if i am wrong

2. Is it advisable to ask our passport back after receiving COA and travel back to our home country till we hear something from HO. My EEA national wife will also travel back. We both have very good jobs back home and thinking to save up some money while our application is under process.

3. DO i have to send all the same documents again when i applied EEA family permit. Documents listed below. UK Embassy have kept most of the original documents so would they accept the copies.

Thanks in advance

I'm sorry, but I'm going to be blunt.

How can you possibly wish to be considered to be job seekers if you don't intend to remain in the job market where you are looking for work? While this may be possible, expect problems.

they need to be in the uk anyway, they need to attend reporting and signing in the job center plus every 2 weeks...and as u mentioned they need to LOOK for work, otherwise they will be cut off by the job seeker's advisers when they miss a signing at the job center and they need to prove that they have been looking for jobs in the previous 2 weeks before the signing,as proof they need emails of job offers, minimum of copies/proofs of 6 applications forms that been sent to apply for jobs and so on..not easy to pull off something like that ...unless,they apply as self sufficient then they can travel stress free, provided that they apply for private sickness healthcare insurance for both, its the only way.

Many thanks EUsmile and UKforever,

As per the guidance:
If they are economically self-sufficient: If your EEA family member is economically selfsufficient, you need to supply evidence of comprehensive sickness insurance and funds sufficient to maintain themselves and any family members included on your application during the time you intend to reside on this basis.

If we go with the self sufficient route, how much funds and how long for do we need to show in the bank. Does it has to be UK bank account !

yes u need to supply proof of relationship like marriage certificate and other proofs that u lived together i'm sure if u look more closely in this forum, there is threads and discussion regarding self sufficient persons and all the requirements needed for residence cards for both the eea national and his/her non eea spouse.

An EEA national need to actually excercise its treaty rights while being present in the member state which cannot be exercised from abroad.
