perm to temp job before citizenship application

Post by spaceandtime » Sun Jun 02, 2013 8:19 am

I have been in the same permanent job since I moved to the U.K. I am not eligible to apply for citizenship for another several months, but I would like to switch employers now. If I end up taking a temp role, what do I need to be mindful of for my citizenship application? Do I just need to ensure that I pay income tax and national insurance contributions?

You don't even need to be employed to naturalise so don't worry.

But if I am employed when I apply for citizenship, UKBA will check that my financial affairs are in order. So will the UKBA just check that I'm also paying income tax and national insurance contributions at my new job?

They will check with the HMRC that NI and tax (if applicable) is being paid.
