Sole trader or ltd company ?

Hi all !!!

A quick question :

I am registered as a sole trader with Hmrc and I have done a contracting job for 2 different ltd company (clients)during the year 2012/13

Is there any rules in tier 1 visa which states :
** if you are a sole trader , one should only work for individual person rather than ltd company. ?? Or

Can you work for both ltd company and individuals , if you are a sole trader ....??

One of my friend said if you are working for a ltd company(client ), then you should be registered as ltd company with Hmrc instead of sole trader .(bit confusing)----- is this correct ??
