Tier 1 to IRL with Baby

Post by JFP » Mon Jun 03, 2013 9:35 pm

Hi,

I am on a Tier 1 visa and will be applying for IRL in Jan/Feb 2014. I am pregnant and my baby is due in October this year (2013). I would like to go back to NZ (where I'm from originally) for December and January with my baby (it's the first grandchild).

I would like to apply for citizenship for the baby when I come back to the UK and have got ILR. Is there any problem with this given me and the baby will be leaving the UK and coming back?

Also, if there is no problem with the above, what status do I bring the baby back into the UK? I don't want to apply for dependency for a few weeks/months.

Thanks

No effect on baby's entitlement for British citizenship.
However, a non-British baby will require leave to enter/remain when returning to the UK.

Thanks Vinny, could I bring him back as a Tourist and then once on ILR apply for british citizenship? I would be coming back on my Tier 1 Visa.
