Updating passport information for PIO

Post by pennylessinindia » Tue Jun 04, 2013 11:18 am

I have a new passport and need to get this updated on my PIO. Plan to travel to IHC in London. Assume they will need to see new passport and have a copy of it . Does anyone know if they ask for any other information and I assume you can do same day collection.
Got caught out last time when visiting the the consular section they asked for proof of residential address so do not want to get caught again!

as long as there is no change to the previously submitted information, no additional document is necessary.

however, if something has changed since previous application (e.g. address or marital status etc), then supporting documents are required. even though these changes were not requested but a new application defacto includes these "misc services" as previously stored data needs to be updated.

Let me try to unwind the woolly comment :)

You request HCI to endorse a change to a previously issued document and that change requires a new document to be issued.

In this scenario, the assumption is that all previously submitted information/data, except the requested change, would remain the same. Now if any minor details has also been changed since you obtained the document (e.g. address change, marital status change, job change), then you also need to provide supporting documents even though this minor change didn’t trigger your original application.

In your case, a new BP means a new PIO card needs to be issued. But your address has also changed since you obtained the PIO. So you need to submit a proof of address in addition to the details of your new passport. If you remain in your current address and obtain a new BP again, then next time, you don’t need to provide any proof of address.

I do not think a new PIO needs to be issued as there is a space for new passport - may be wrong but that is how it looks. when I changed address last year they did not amend the PIO card but noted this on my residence card.

Do you think they will accept Driving licence for address proof?

Thanks
