visiting UK once Unmarried Partner Application in process

Post by sheilabh » Tue Jun 04, 2013 1:09 pm

Hi there,
I am a Canadian citizen who is going to apply for a unmarried partner visa. My boyfriend of 4 years and I are intending on settling in the UK. He can currently work here (he is English)and obviously I cannot. I understand that I have to apply from Canada which I intend to do, but he is going to stay here to work...my question is may I reenter England on the regular 6 month visitor visa once my application has been submitted? I know I cannot work, but he can and makes more money here than in Canada, so we would be ok with me not working while my visa was being processed.
Thanks so much in advance for the advice!

They will need your passport to process your visa application.

I did read that, however they do also state if you would like your passport back beforecyour application is complete that you need to contact them and request it. If I plan to apply in June and we go to France in August whether I visit the UK or not, I will need my passport.

Can you give a link to where it says that?

Right at the bottom...I also checked the link for applying from Outside the country and could not decipher the response to my specific question. Thanks again!

If you request the return of your passport the application will be considered as withdrawn.
