Previously cancelled Tier 2 Visa

I had a tier 2 visa for UK stamped in my passport in May 2012 with a validity of 3 years.
Later I decided not to take up the job in UK and did not travel.
I had to make a business visit in July 2012 and applied for a business visitor visa. When I received my passport, I was given a 2 year visitor visa with a cancellation on my tier 2 stamp.

Now I am looking at the option of moving to UK to work for the same employer who sponsored my tier 2 visa before.

Is there a way I can request the UK embassy to reinstate my old tier 2 visa ?
