ILR

Post by MikeL231 » Wed Jun 05, 2013 2:27 pm

Hello everyone,

My wife came to UK in August 2011 on spouse visa and she will be applying for ILR. I would like to know, does she need to have Life in the UK certificate, currently she has ESOL Speaking and Listineng. I am confused as which rules to follow the old rules or the new ones. I think as for the financial requirments the old rules that don't require the minimuim financial requirment of £18600 apply you can correct me if I am wrong.

I appreciate your advise and many thanks in advance.

You have to follow the rules of ILR applicable at the time you are applying for ILR, not the rules which were effective when you came into the country. £18600 requirement is for spouse visa, not ILR. Since your spouse visa was granted before 9th July, you will qualify for ILR after 2 year probationary.

Everyone needs to prove their Britishness for ILR. Speaking english has no bearing on how much you know about monty python.
