Enquiry On Mother CUKC Status

Hi there, need your kind advice. May I know what will happen to an abandoned infant that was born on 1940 in a british colony which was my mother. I can't get much information on these and need your kind advice.

And after the country has gained independence, my mother did not became citizens but holds Permanent Resident to stay at the country. For myself, I was born after the country had gained independence and on my birth certificate it states my mother nationality as British Subjects.
