NON WORKING DEPENDANT VISA..

Hi,


i am supposed to get a contract to Uk , for 3 months , which is likely to be extended beyond that time , but it wud be for 3 months initially.

i need my spouse to accompany me on a dependant visa.
Someone told me , that he could only work ONLY if my work permit is for more than 6 months and initially with my 3 month valid permit, he will be given a NON WORKING DEPENDANT VISA.

How true is this part,

If so, what are the chances he comes with me and finds some temporary/ contract/ daily pays/kind of odd jobs till we cross 3 months , and then as my permit extends he switches to a WORKING DEPENDANT VISA .

please get me this information as we r stuck with our decisions.
