BC Latest Statistics Published by www.data.gov.uk

Post by RoyalFlush » Sun Jun 09, 2013 9:31 am

Hi,

I thought I would share some interesting statistics that I came across on the web.

The data can be downloaded here without registration or creating an account:

http://www.data.gov.uk/dataset/immigrat ... citizeship

It seems to be updated regularly and currently has data from 2011 to present day.

For 2013 specifically the spreadsheet link is https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 3-tabs.ods

Quarter: 2013 Q1
All applications received: 53,385
Applications for British citizenship: 52,629
Decisions taken to grant: 47,845
Decisions taken to refuse or withdraw: 1,921
Refused or withdrawn as a % of total decisions: 4%

This is further broken down into citizenship grants by age, sex, geographical region, applicants country of birth etc for those that are interested.

Other statitics can be found here for 2013 January to March:
https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... march-2013

As this data is maintained and kept current, it might be useful to make this a sticky.

Apologies if this information has already been posted elsewhere.

Good luck to everyone and my sincere thanks to the people that make this website the great asset that it is :D

this is fascinating - thanks for posting

looks like about 3-4% of applications are getting rejected - so that is quite a positive number.

Main reasons of refusal seems to be that applicant is 'not of good character' (1.1% of total applications refused) and 'residence' (again 1.1% of total applications refused; correlating this with info already published earlier by UKBA, I guess main reason for refusal on residence grounds would be due to people not being present on the day 5 years before the date of BC application?).

Only 400 people (or 0.2%) are rejected on 'other' grounds.
