Naturalisation deferred for 18 months

Post by olomide » Sun Jun 09, 2013 6:59 pm

I applied for my Irish citizenship in April 2011 i am married to an Irish citizen and have two beautiful children and i am living here 17 year also i applied on my own behalf.. . I was in a bad car crash in June 2011 and i got a two year ban off the road for dangerous driving which was a genuine accident, the ban started may 2012 so have till may 2014.

I received a letter from them a while back asking me what was the outcome of the crash and if any fines did i pay, so i sent the copy of the receipt that i paid the fine and also wrote a letter saying that i got a two year ban.(which they would know already anyway )

I received a letter today(07/06/2013) and says the Minister has decided to defer any final decision on my application for a period of 18 months..

I am so stressed and don't know what to do, i went to a solicitor today and just to get some advice , he said that the dangerous driving shouldn't affect it because it happened after i sent the application ,and also that i shouldn't have to wait a further 18 months.

I am just wondering would it be a good idea too go ahead with solicitor or just wait ..

( Anyone with any advice please feel free to reply or how your's is going)

I have seen few people in the situation as you. They simply deferred your application to make sure you're of good character and you wont re-offend again. Plus, you're still on a ban which will be absurd for them to issue you with a certificate of naturalisation. You were charged with dangerous driving which is a major offence.

Re-offend again during this period of deferral and your application for certificate of naturalisation may be denied. I dont think a solicitor will do a thing in this matter. Its simply a matter of time.

Best advice, be a Saint for the period of 18 months, literally!.

Winning the case will make a difference in terms of personal record, insurance premium, for the record and for future purposes.

But despite winning the case or not, you must wait for a further 18 months as advice by the INIS. You may though if you win, notify the INIS about the outcome of the case. But still have to be a Saint and wait for 18 months!

Awww, i can seriously feel ur pain...look at it this pay, God is probably trying to keep you safe for the next 18 mnths.. probably u were going/are going to travel somewhere or do something that may cause you harm if you were granted now. God knows best, sure 18 months will fly... be patient..When its God time, non of the above situations you have mentioned matters ( ie 10yrs, never been in trouble)..its well...dont think of it too much.
