Albania to UK, Cancer, and Baby Sitting

Post by Husband & Wife » Tue Jun 11, 2013 6:33 pm

Dear Everyone

First, I would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who helps us in our case.

Here is an outline of our situation...

I (the husband) am a UK citizen, from birth. My wife is Albanian. We met 3 years ago and married 2.5 years ago, in Albania. Our marriage document has been deposited in the UK and is registered here. We are both in our early thirties.

I was abroad with my wife but returned to the UK in 2011 in order to work to bring my wife to live with me in Wales.

Upon my return to the UK I visited the hopsital and was diagnosed with cancer. I had an operation and it was removed. Then, in 2012, a check-up showed that it came back and I was treated with chemotherapy, which was successful in that it reduced the tumor count down to 0.5 which is considered a normal or safe level. Now, in 2013, I had another check-up and it is shown to have grown again. I will have more tests and the results will indicate if I need further treatment.

I have worked since I came back to the UK but have stopped working because of the above situation and treatment programs.

Neither of us have visited each other during this time, although we talk daily on skype for hours at a time.

My wife works as a baby sitter and could work as an au-pair or nanny.

I am aware there are compassionate reasons an applicant may make a visa application early without their sponsor having fulfilled the financial requirements for the entire required time period... but how far can this be extended? Can it be waved completely?

I am aware there are benefits a sponsor may receive, such as Disability Living Allowance, that allows the applicant to enter the UK without their sponsor fulfilling the financial requirement. But I think another person or such needs to declare that they have the required funds and will fill the role of financial sponsor on behalf the original sponsor.

Are there other ways in which I am able to bring my wife?

We intend to have a family when she arrives. I have stored sperm since before I received chemotherapy treatment in 2012.

Thank you :)

Hi Husband and wife.
I am pretty much in a similar situation. The difference is, that I am a cancer survivor and applying for UK spouse visa. I had treatment in my motherland and in remission at present. I wonder, if the fact will actually help or harm my case. I am not in active treatment and I am still able to work full time. Shall I address my my condition in a cover letter. Hope some one will chime in to advice us.
Take care.

Hello Karra. Thank you for your reply.

In my opinion, I would suggest adding it to your file, beacause it can help explain what you have been doing in the time, and why you did not apply earlier.

Yes, I hope someone can help us with some very useful information.

Thank you :)
