I know there is a change coming - the ESOL and citizenship currently for low-level English speakers will be stopped.
If my wife enters UK as an accompanying spouse this summer before the deadline I know she no longer can get indefinite leave stamped on entry (we've lived as a family outside UK for 10 years). She'll get a stamp for about 2.5 years and have to apply again for a stamp to finish 5 years in UK before she gets ILR.
But this is my question; when she finally applies for ILR will she be regarded as applying at that point (about 5 years form now say 2018) or will she be regarded as applying now before the upcoming changes?
That is to say; does the application process started now define the date of her whole application process, or is it the actual date she actually applies for ILRitself.
This means - if she counts as now she doesn't need the life in UK for ILR as she has ESOL and citizenship. But if she counts as applying in 2018 she will need the life in UK test.
Thanks for any knowledge you can share about this.
