PSW work - ? - Marriage visa

Post by alina_22 » Wed Jun 12, 2013 5:20 pm

Hello everyone.

I kind of know the answer myself, but thought maybe there is something that I am missing, and there is a solution.

I have a PSW visa that expires in March 2014.

I am also in a relationship with a British citizen for the last 1 year and we live together since October 2013. We are currently engaged (he proposed me last Sunday!) and making plans for the wedding.

We'd like to marry next summer (we want a nice outdoor wedding).

But my visa expires in March hence I was wondering...

Question 1

Is there is any other category of visa that I can switch into before getting married without:

- loosing my right to work
- being sponsored by another company (I opened my own business)

And Question 2:

Does anyone know if there has ever been an exception made and someone got their PSW visa extended for a few months (I know it sounds like a miracle, but still I better ask)?...

I know it's silly, but I always wanted a summer wedding and not a winter one and it would be a shame to move the date because of stupid paperwork....

Thanks very much.
Alina

You can't extend your PSW so unless you switch into another PBS category, or unless you marry before your current leave expires, you will have to leave the UK and return with a fiancee-settlement visa (no work permitted).
