Name change query - British passport

Post by ftse250 » Fri Jun 14, 2013 10:30 am

Hi experts,

I am ready to apply for my first British passport after naturalization.

In my non-UK passport currently my mother name is incorrect and I have
used her correct name in naturalization form.

However, while filling up for British passport if I give her new correct name
in parent's details section (As what I gave in naturalization) that will differ with her name what is in my passport and they may reject.

Can experts please advise?

Thanks

Why does your mother's name appear in your passport? That seems unusual. I don't think that would be checked when issuing a UK passport, so it would be better to give the same information that you did for naturalization. However, I'm not an expert.

Yes that's a norm for a country I am from. They print both mother and father name in passport.

Experts any advice please?

I don't know what experts can advice you in this matter. My home country passport has mother's and father's name too.

And I would think when we write down our name, our mother's or father's or child's, we write their name and not some made up name.

I wonder why on earth people would use different name for their parents? Or is it pick and choose what name you like. Just write what you feel like.

You chose to give wrong details, so don't know what if anything anyone can advice you in this matter.
