Hi there,hope you all well

I am Algerian married to Italian I have arrived in uk on 14/03/2008 with 6 months visa residence as EEU family member on September same year I applied for 5 years residence after one year waiting to receive my residence I received permanent residence instead (09/2009) I think because my EU husband had already the permanent card before I applied! Now I have been here for 5 years and 3 months since I arrived to the uk.
Can I apply for British citizenship if yes, I have not worked in uk since I arrived I did take few English courses.also we receive child/working tax credit and housing benefit because my husband in low wage and myself i look after our two kids 3.5 y and 1.5y.do you think will be problem with home office if I apply.

Your answer will be very much appreciated

Have you received your PR card? Although you don't need this naturalise it might be easier. Unless your spouse/civil p is a British Citizen you will have to be resident in the UK for at least 5 years and have been settled (had PR) for at least 12 months as well as satisfying the other standard requirements.

Remember in order to have PR you must have been exercising treaty rights/be a qualified person for 5 years continuously in the UK.

If you arrived on 14/03/2008, and you got PR card on 09/2009, then it was an error by UKBA. They will surely notice the error when you make further applications.

But this is nothing to worry about. If you husband has been working, then you will qualify to apply for naturalisation 14/03/2014.

If you husband has already become British citizen, then you can apply for naturalisation now.

If your husband has not become a British citizen yet, and if he becomes a British citizen before 14/03/2014, then you can apply for your naturalisation on the day he becomes citizen.
