Expediting ILR on compassionate grounds

Post by nchad01 » Fri Jun 14, 2013 4:31 pm

Hi,
I have submitted my ILR application (as a dependent) on 01st Feb 2013. Due to a bereavement in the family I need to urgently travel to my home country for which I need my travel documents back. My current Leave to remain has expired in March 2013. On contacting UKBA I was advised to FAX the documentary evidence which I have done. I have contacted my MP's office who asked me to send them documentary evidence as well. But I have not heard from them since I sent my documents. Has anyone ever got their application expedited?

I thought I will post a reply for benefit of others if they are looking for this information (I wish no one ever needs to).

I have now received approval of my ILR application. The letter says BRP will follow so hopefully it will not be a long wait.

Date of application - 01 Feb 2013

Application type - Set(o) dependant of my husband. (applied separately from husband)

Date of expedition request : 12th June 2013 via fax to 08703369405 (liverpool office). Application was incomplete till this date.

Documents sent : cover letter for reason of request and evidence supporting it.

Called Home Office next day to enquire if they received it. They were able to check and reply positively.

My MP also sent a letter dated 12th June on my behalf to Rob Whiteman requesting to expedite my application if possible.

Called Home Office enquiry number everyday to check the progress but it did not help much as some would not entertain you other were helpful and the only information I could get out was it has been forwarded to case working team.

Application approval letter , passports and supporting docs received in post on 6th July 2013 (dated 4th July)

Total wait : 16 working days.

Waiting for BRP now.

Many congratulations! Yes your post is really helpful.
One quick question . In SET(O) form which one did you select ?

SECTION 3 - WHICH CATEGORY?

PBS Dependent
OR
Other purposes or reasons not covered by other application forms

Thanks dk2011.

It was Other purposes or reasons not covered by other application forms. I also added comments in comment section explaining I was not eligible when my husband applied. I hope this helps.
