Preparing ILR application - a few questions

Post by sqaush » Sun Jun 16, 2013 12:21 pm

1. My husband took the Life in the UK test several years ago when he made an ILR application with his previous wife. Does he need to retake it for our current application? The certificate doesn't have an expiry date but our solicitor said we should check this out.

2. I pay my electricity bill by direct debit. I think I have an account I can log into to view my previous bills. Will a print out of this be enough or do I need to arrange for them to send me paper bills?

We don't need to apply until January 2015 (yes, I'm being very well prepared this time because the last 3 applications we made - fiance, appeal and spouse - were STRESSFUL)! So I want to avoid any problems in the future especially as I now don't have any legal help since legal aid has been abolished.

3. Since he got his visa before the new rules came in, I believe we remain under the old rules. Do you know where I can find information about financial requirements etc under the old rules?

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thank you :)

One more question: I kept my surname after we got married, will that go against us??
