Doctorate Extension Scheme dilema

Post by givethanks » Tue Jun 18, 2013 8:56 pm

HI there, I am about to apply for the Doctorate Extension Scheme following my PhD but have the following problem. In order to meet the financial requirements I need to have had the money in my account for 28 days at the date of application. Furthermore, my application must be made before my date of graduation as per my CAS.

At the moment I have had the funds in my account since 28 May so the 28th day should be on 24 June. However, my date of graduation is 27 June and applications can only be made online by premium bookings. So, here's the dilema:

1. If I book to reserve a place next week, will my date of application be the day of my interview or date of payment (you can't book without paying)? If it is the date of payment that would mean that I fall short of the 28 days maintenance requirement.

2. Should I wait until the 28th day i.e. 24 June to make the payment and therefore book an appointment for the 25th or 26th of June and thereby risk not finding a booking slot?

Please advise. Thank you.

You don't have to make your application via a premium booking. You need to complete the print and send application online but you can choose the option to post the application rather than the premium service.

The date of application is the date you attend the appointment if you choose the premium option or the date you post the application if you choose the standard option.
