Spouse visa- caseworker asking for sponsor's passport

Post by Heavenlee » Wed Jun 19, 2013 11:12 am

Hi

I have applied for my spouse visa last month, my husband who is a british citizen has just changed his name and sent his passport to the Passport office, he has provided all the documents he was asked to produce and is checking the progress all the time. now when i applied for my visa I have enclosed my husband's driving License, a reference from the passport office with a number they can call to check and a caseworker name, I have also mentioned where the passport is, only to be surprised by a call last week asking why my sponsor's pass is not there, by chance my husband answered that phone call and told them where his passport is, yesterday a letter arrived stating this :

''We have returned your sponsor's passport and have kept a copy on file''

followed by another sentence saying that i need to provide to sponsor's passport by the 26th of June and that if i fail to produce the document by the deadline my application might be refused.

- now I really have no control over when my husband's passport will be back
- cant they just check with the passport office which is just another division!!!!
- why am i given a deadline for something I cant control!! while they have a section in the form whereby they ask us to explain why the passport is not there and that another form of ID could be among others a driving license .

- should i send them a letter ( i have no contact number ) to explain what i have just said above or should i just wait til they refuse my application and appeal ??

Your comments and advice will be super valuable, I am pregnant and my hormones are already making me gaga :(

Yes it should be OK.

They will have to either wait till you get passport back or they can make their enquiries with the passport office
