So many questions!! Please help!

I have so many questions in regards to applying for an EEA FP under the Surinder Singh route. We are currently in the UK and will be travelling to France shortly and are desperately seeking answers.

1. Will any problems arise if my wife enters France on a visa waiver and then attempts to apply for the EEA FP?

2. What is the purpose of me exercising my economic treaty rights for 5 to 6 months?

3. If we are living in France and I am working there for 6 months and intend to return to the
UK once this period of time is up, at what point does she apply for the EEA FP? Does she apply from within France?

4. Is an EEA FP the same thing as the Residence Certificate/Residence Card (EEA2)? As a US citizen, does she apply for an EEA2 before applying for the EEA4? Again, is this done from within France before we return to the UK?

5. Where and when do we apply for the VAF5?

Sorry for the unending questions! I'm just trying my best to sort out a timeline for us so we
better understand what we have to do to make this work.
