Schengen Tourist Visa for Spain

I am thinking of Applying for a Tourist short stay Visa to Visit Spain from the Spanish Embassy. I currently live in London, do I need to go through VFS or I can call the Spanish embassy in London directly and book an Appointment?

If you are a regular applicant (e.g. just a tourist, no EU family member connection), then you will need to use VFS.
