*** can I apply for BC if I have PR card less then 6months?

Post by lad2777 » Thu Jun 20, 2013 10:38 pm

I have been living in the UK for more then 7 years no, but a permanent resident card I received just this month EEA3 as I am EU member.

on HO website there is info that I have to be a holder or Permanent residency card for 12 months to apply for british citizenship.

I didn't find any info on HO confirming that I can apply now for BCitizenship as I have been living in the Uk for more then 6 years now even if I have a permanent resident card a few weeks?

thanks for info and how to find it on HO webiste so I know it for sure?

Where does it say so?

What I read from the website (which is backed by the Guide AN) is
No mention of the PR card.

Yes you can apply now as you have lived in the UK for more than 6 years.

In that case, you will need to provide proof of the 5 years (similar to what is needed in EEA3 application) ending at least one year ago (so you will have PR status for 1 year). Form AN has a specific section (Q2.4-2.6) for such application.

So if for example you apply tomorrow, you will need to provide evidence of 5 years treaty rights ending no later than June 2012 (so June 2007-June 2012 or earlier than that for example June 2005-June 2010 etc.).

You can submit your PR card (it might "convince" the caseworker not to check your documents so carefully) but this will not save you from providing all the treaty rights evidence again (employment letter/P60's etc).

No. People on this board are just volunteers who share their knowledge.
