Complaints regarding EEA 4

Post by augustine70 » Fri Jun 21, 2013 11:31 pm

Hi everyone,
I have just registered to firstly thank few people here who have been helpful to many people for a looong time. (especially plum70, obie, jambo, EUsmilexxxxx and others who give great advice) I have been following this website for ages. One of
many who never post but just read and get as many info as needed.

My timeline:
EEA 4 application
applied :17 oct 2012
coa received :20 oct 2012
pr received :21 jun 2013
thats 8 months wait!! (and 1 day)

What i would like to mention here is for those who are still waiting more than 6.5 months. There are few cases here where they complain about the delay to UKBA(emailing) and within the next day or the same week they received their passport. What a coincidence, it happened
to me as well. Within hrs of my complain (email) I received a response that decision was made last week and passport dispatched yesterday. Somehow I feel, they respond to the complaint and quickly look for your application and resolved it asap. (just an assumption)
However, those who have exceeded 6.5 months, i would urge you to write an email to complain and post your experience here for others. Please don't waste your time calling more that twice as it is a total waste of time and may divert their resources too...(?).
I email to a few addresses but the one that email me back rather promptly with a respond was:
EREC@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk
Kirsen.Ferguson@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk

In my complain, I tried to be as polite as possible whilst highlighting that the delay is causing me stress and costing money for unable to make early travel arrangement.

Dear (Sir),or (ms ferguson)

Home Office Ref: XXXXXXXXX

I am writing to complain about the application I made to UKBA on the XX/XX/xx for a permanent residence
card (EEA 4) as a family member of an EEA national.

Presently my application is well over seven months and the certificate of application I received from the Home
office dated XX/XX/XX states that my application will be dealt within 6 months.

(i mentioned that i have to take my kids to visit grandparents in the term time and unable to make any plan,
this delay is causing me stress and also costing us money for buying late flight tickects).

I would appreciate if this matter is looked into as soon as possible. Looking forward to hear from you soon. Thank you

yours sincerely
XXXXXXXX

By the way, my case was not a straightforward one. My wife was pregnant and left the job after about 4yrs. I had nearly a year gap, some of which she was claiming jobseekers,(this was to show them that she is actively looking for a job)
