some advice needed on visa application

Post by yule » Wed Feb 21, 2007 5:09 pm

Hello people.

I came across this site whilst I was googling for information on visa applications.

I would firstly like to say, I ended up finding most of the visa information I was looking for on this very forum and would like to thank the administrators and members of the forum for your efforts.

I would be grateful if you could advise me on what I should do for the visa application of my spouse.

I got married in 2005 in Pakistan where I met my wife. I then came back to the UK to finish my final year of study. After I Graduated in 2006 before looking for work I went to visit my wife in pakistan (Due to me not having a full time job during study I couldnt apply for my spouses visa). I stayed for a short while (Oct+Nov 06) and then returned to the UK seeking full time work.

I am now working but will need 3 months payslips for me to apply for her visa. I have all the other necessary paperwork (mortgage, bank, bills, marriage) but need payslips

The issue I have is my wife is pregnant.

Now when I have all the paperwork ready for my application my wife will be about 5 months into her pregnancy. Depending on how long it takes for the application processing, it may become too late for my wife to travel.

Would it be better for me to apply later for both my wife and child or shall I still apply ASAP and hope it is processed quickly so my wife can travel in good time?

How different is the normal spouse application compared to one where theie is a child included also?

What do you guys/gals think is the best appraoch. I look forward to your replies.

regards
yule

Hello,

The published times for a spouse visa application in three months for Pakistan. Are you a british national yourself? and if so are you a national by birth? I am asking because if you are a british national by birth, your baby would be a british citizen by decent so you don't need to apply for her visa anyway. but do note that your baby would note be able to pass her citizen ship to her children born outside UK.

What I would suggest to you is to apply for the sooner rather than later. Once your wife has visa in her passport, you guys can then decide about the actual travel time scales.

Please note that PIA carriers a pregnant pessenger for upto 28 weeks of pregnancies, where as BA and Emirates can carry a pregnent passenger for upto 32 weeks of pregnency without a medical certificate and upto 36 weeks of prenency with a certificate. Emirates may also carry a pessenger for upto 40 weeks of pregnency provided the pessenger is cleared by Emirates Medical Board. (Just for your info)

I do hope things turn out ok for you. Wish you best of luck.

Thanks for your advice jazbaati99.

Yes, I am a british national by birth.

Thats great news that my baby to be, will not need a visa. I was not aware of that.

My aim is to apply as soon as I have sufficient payslips and then wait and see how long it takes for the visa to be processed.

Hopefully if the visa is processed quickly my wife maybe able to travel. If she is not, than I will go to pakistan. (can't miss the birth of my child :D )

Thanks again
saj (aka yule)

Hello

Do contact the British high commission in Islamabad to check document required for passport for your baby. One thing that I do know is that they absolutely insist to see your British passport.

Wish you all the best
