You should claim Child Benefit in your name only. CT + WTC in joint names.

No if the child benefit is in your name and the tax credits in joint names then it will not affect the future application as you are not subject to immigration control.

Is there any minimum earning threshold for getting the WTC,CTC etc..If someone is earning 40K...can he still claim all the above benefits ?

The more you earn, the less you get for tax credits. For chb benefit there is a reduction and cut off starting at £50k. You. Should use entitled to (google it) for a calculation.
