Requesting passport same time as application

Has anyone any experience or comment on sending in the document request form with the application and evidence?

My spouse (whom i am separated from but not divorced) requires this for August and was wondering if there would be any problem sending the document request form with the application and also emailing the document to the relevant email address as requested.

Do both. I did both and got my wife's passport back 3 weeks after application
