Child never held indian passport- how do i surrender?

Post by longresidence » Wed Jun 26, 2013 10:37 pm

Hello guys,

I am just wondering here, if anybody can help me out for this situation.

I am on ILR, my child got British citizenship thru naturalization and then he got British passport now. We are planning to go to india end of july, by seeing the VFS website, i am just confused that they are asking us to surrender indian passport for long term visa, OCI and PIO cards.

I am planning to apply for my child on long term visa for time being, but my child only got British passport, he never held any indian or another country passport. In this case, what shall I surrender?

Surrender indian passport and certificate before applying any indian visa is a mandatory they said. Can anyone please help me out this as a matter of urgency.

Thanks in advance

Cheers

you can apply for long term visa or PIO and say that baby never held any indian passport.

Your baby cannot apply for OCI since parents are holding indian passport.

Thanks for the reply.

But on the vfs website, it says that for long term visa and PIO also, applicant has to obtain a surrender certificate first and apply for a visa. In this case how do i do this for my child?

Can anyone please help me out this.

thanks

as you didn't register your child's birth at HC, your child never formally held indian citizenship - so there is nothing to surrender.
Just submit copy of your passport and child'r birth certificate so prove his indian origin through his parent. include a covering letter explaining the same.

Thanks for the reply.

Further more on this, some one advice me that I have to do AFFIDAVIT from the notarized public saying that my child originally an indian origin.

And they said that I have to do notary for the affidavit from the notary public in the UK. is it still count towards correct way of processing inorder to get surrender certificate.??

has anybody faced this problem, or has anybody heard what to do with this type of situation.

Thanks in advance.

can you ask that someone to confirm the basis of their advice? you mentioned you didn't register your child's birth with indian HCI so your child was never indian.
