Spouse/CP working in UK?

Post by britandco » Thu Jun 27, 2013 10:38 am

My filipino wife has been granted a Spouse/CP partner visa (married to British Citizen) and after we arrive in the on UK 18 July 13 she would like to find a job. Most websites, including this one, state that she can work as soon as she gets her visa but I cannot see where this entitlement is documented in the UKBA website. Can anyone tell me? There is nothing in her visa except "no recourse to public funds". I have even been through the checklist for employers to prevent illegal working without getting a positive answer.

How does she convince a prospective employer that she is allowed to work legally in the UK? What is the procedure? I know she needs to apply a NI number but she has nothing in writing saying can work in UK.

(I sent a similar enquiry to Worldbrige, but all I received was a lengthy reply about public funds and no mention of work - useless)

Work is permitted on a spouse visa, a prospective employer will verify with the UKBA so you need not worry.
