Tier 2 - Change of Job Title

Hi,

I am on Tier 2 General VISA from July 2010 and my visa is expiring in August 2013.

My company is planning to offer a new job role and this job is still in shortage occupancy list but in a different category (SOC code).

I am planning to apply for extension of my VISA this month however I am not sure whether I have to make a "change of employment" application initially and then apply for extension.

The extension rules say that I can get extension only if "I apply for the same job and working for the same company" and I am not sure if I can apply with the new job title.

Could anybody advise me?

this is not a 2 stage process. You either make an extension application or a change of employment application. The application form is the same for both:

but the requirements are different. You will need a new CoS in any case.
