Will Dependent working full-time affect ILR?

Post by raghavsey » Tue Jul 02, 2013 11:40 am

Hi,

I am currently on a PBS Dependent Visa and came to UK in 2009 with my father who is on a Tier 1 General Visa and we wish to apply for our Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) next year.

I have just finished my Masters degree at Newcastle University and I am planning to start working full-time for a company called Qualcomm near London.

I wanted to ask would my living away from home and earning a salary be an issue when applying for ILR as I will no longer be dependent on my father.

I was concerned as the ‘Settlement applications by your dependent’ page on UKBA website mentions that the dependent ‘should not be leading an independent life’.

What do you guys think?
