Visa for dependent of spousal visa holder?

Post by becca.morrison » Tue Jul 02, 2013 6:11 pm

Hi! This is my first post. I'm writing because I can't figure out how to go about getting a visa for my daughter. I am an American living in the UK with my husband on a spousal visa. I have custody of my American daughter and am planning for her to join me, but I don't know how to get a visa for her? Can someone help me find answers?

Thank you!

Thank you Amber!

I appreciate that. Do you by any chance know who I can speak to about specifics? I've been settled in the Uk for one year and would like my daughter to come soon to settle. However, it looks like the waiting time is 3 months and she has to apply from outside the UK. I'm wondering if it's possible to apply for a visa for her while she's in the UK. Where can I find this out?!

apply from outside?

I am in the UK and would be filing the application. Does that mean I need to somehow have her documents with me while she's not with me and file these documents while she's outside and i'm inside the uk?

There's a little bit of info missing here - how old is your daughter and who is she living with now?

My daughter is almost 12. She's been living with me until recently, when she stayed with my ex husband, her father, for a year (all agreed she could stay with him a year). Now I'm trying to figure out how to get her to the UK with me, as I'm settled with my British husband.
