Maintenance of Funds for Sponsoring Brother

Hi

I wish to invite my Brother to UK for couple of weeks on a visit visa. Can someone help me on the below queries:

If I Sponsor:

1. Should I maintain funds in my account for a while or can I put the money into my account now and apply for visa next week?
2. How much should I show in my account?

If I am not Sponsoring

1. Can my father put some amount into my brother's account and give him a Gift Deed?
2. How long should my brother show money in his account before applying for visa?
3. How much should he show in his account.
