Nationality on the landing card

Post by u_n » Thu Jul 04, 2013 9:02 am

Hi,

We will be receiving our UK Naturalisation Certificate by the end of July and have plans to visit India during August.

I understand that within 3 months (grace period) of receiving the Naturalisation Certificate, we can travel on Indian passport without penalties.

This being the situation, my confusion is with regards to the Nationality to be declared on the landing card.

• Should I declare as "British" and produce my Indian Passport to the Immigration officer in India? OR Would I be considered as Indian national, since I still hold my Indian passport?
• Also, on my arrival to the UK, should I fill in the landing card and wait in non-UK queue for the immigration checks (since I would have travelled on Indian passport)?

Kindly advice. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the reply.
BTW, should I mention as "British" in landing card on arrival to the UK? (since it would be evident on their records).

UK recognise dual citizenship and unlike some other countries (e.g. USA, Israel, Poland) don't require a dual citizen to excecise British citizenship upon arrival.
So it's your choice whether your mention Indian or British in the UK landing card - will not make any difference.
