NI Dual UK/Eire living in England, Japanese Wife on WorkVisa

Post by busubi » Sat Jul 06, 2013 9:12 am

Hi everyone I used this board some years ago to help my own situation. Now I have a work college with a similar situation but with some differences. The first being he met her here whilst she was on her first work visa. she is now on a second work visa due to end late 2014. They will marry early 2014 in the UK. They live together in England and have done for nearly 2 years. The other difference is that he is from Northern Ireland a British Citizen with a Irish Passport. This then got me thinking that he may be able to go the EEA route for ease and less expense. Could anyone advise. Much appreciated.

The regulation precludes british citizens who also have Irish passport from qualifying under the EEA route . Therefore this may not be an option open to your friend.

Ahh OK, it was just a thought. Many thanks.
Just one question, could they not apply to the Irish embassy for a EEA visa and live here?
