Spouse visa; accommodation requirement and prospective plans

Post by legalalien » Sun Jul 07, 2013 8:16 pm

I have read a lot about accommodation requirements for spouse visa, I am planning to get married next year so I am planning ahead so that things are in place for when we get married.

I am currently sharing a house with my friend, but I am planning to move in Feb 2014 next year to accommodation provided by work - private rooms with shared living room -four rooms per flat and each room has its own lock. Not sure whether the housing company would allow partners to share a room but my plan is to stay there temporarily as it will allow me to save a lot of money for the months prior to the wedding in August. Then nearer the wedding I will rent or buy a flat for when my wife moves to the UK.

So my question is regarding accommodation requirements for spouse visa. We will do the religious part in December this year so my wife will apply for the visa in February 2014.

As my accommodation will not be suitable for a couple, is there a way to submit a letter explaining to UKBA my plans for when we get married and she moves to UK, like stating that I will be renting a flat when she arrives. Or is it mandatory to have accommodation in place at the time of lodging an application?

Plan B for me is to rent a proper flat in February but I would rather stay in a room and save up the money whilst I am living alone.

Any thoughts?
