Advice on what to do next- Student- PSW- Spouse visa-now ??

Post by hussainfarhad » Sun Jul 07, 2013 8:59 pm

Just wanted to confirm really what I should be doing next?

I have been a student in the UK since 2006 then in 2009 got PSW and then got married in 2011 with a British citizen and got spouse visa expiring in november 2013. Now I know I have to apply for Settlement which I can do in October ( If im wrong please someone wrong) now I want to know.. Can I apply for Naturalilsation straight after getting settlement or do I have to wait another year.

The guidance on UKBA does say that I need 3 years residence in UK to apply for naturalisation and I will have the 2 years from the Spouse visa but just not sure whether all my time in Student or PSW categories counts in that time.. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

After you are settled (granted ilr) you can naturalise as British as the spouse of a BC without waiting, subject to meeting the other requirements.
