Tier 1(general): being in employment for all 5 years.

Post by newbie_2013 » Sun Jul 07, 2013 10:25 pm

I am pretty sure being in employment in all the 5 years is not a requirement for ILR applying under Tier 1 (general) visa. But most forum members are adamant that one need to be in employment to show that they are economically active for all the 5 years. Can any expert please advice on this?

I ask this coz there are unfortunate people like me who were made redundant twice and I was only active (i.e in employment) for 3.2 years in all the 5 years.
I do have enough points for ILR application although I have only worked for 5 months in the last year.

cheers

You have to be employed in the UK or actively seeking work in the UK (if not employed) to comply with Tier 1 criteria.
