When my Wife came to England on a spouse visa I lived at home with my Mum and Step Dad. I sent off a letter from my parents that they would support us until we found our own place to live. My step dad also gave me a copy of the deeds to the house thus proving the house was theirs and be big enough for all of us. The application went like a dream.

I would highly recommend providing as much info as you possibly can to make this as easy as possible. emails and letters that you may have sent to each other and phone bills if you've called. I was also lucky enough to have a job for my wife lined up as cleaner for the company i work for which they were able to confirm in writing for the application.

As for the Passport I personally would have had that changed to correct details asap anyway.
