Husband in prison

Post by Paga » Mon Jul 15, 2013 10:13 am

I first came to the UK in 2010 on a spouse visa.
I've been living with my husband until a year later he
started changing his behaviour towards me. He started cheating on me and
making frequent trips to Africa. I later learnt that
he's expecting a child from a lady he had an affair with whiles on holiday. When I confronted him he denied it. His attitude towards me changed for the better after many dialogues & we were planning on having out own business. A month ago, he told me one of his friends is seriously ill in France and he would like to go visit him over the weekend.
Few days later, i had a call from the foreign office that my husband has been arrested for possessing of cocaine at an airport out of the EU. I broke down and didn't know what to do. I've decided to divorce him because I do not want to be monitored by the police when I know I'm a genuine person I also don't want to be associated with a drug dealer. How do I begin a divorce process as he is in prison?

What is your immigration status, have you been granted ILR?

Just out of curiosity, don't you think you may need to hear your husband's side before taking this huge step.

I spoke to him & all he says is sorry. Found out this has been going on for a while but was unlucky this time. I've arranged for a lawyer for him & I'm following the case closely. I currently have an indefinite leave to remain.
