On a spouse visa & and victim of Domestic Voilence.. Hel

Post by johnty » Mon Jul 15, 2013 3:45 pm

Hi there
My friend cousin came to UK as spouse about 6 months ago..
the husband was abusive and used to beat her and lock her in house before going to work.. took her passport and always threthend to send her back if she did not obey him..

Anyway last week she had enough of his latest beating and call 999. Police arrived and took the husband to Police station where he was released the next day however Police did file a case against him and took photos of her bruised face for the record however did not let her to go with him and wanted to send her to women refuge but my friend brought her to his house...

Now how he can help her as she was dependent of her husband who obviously not on good term with her.

The husband has ILR and he is currently waiting for decision on his Nationality application.

He called the Women Charity for assistance and they replied that as she is on Spouse Visa she needs to apply to HomeOffice for funding!

Can she remain in the UK independently or will have to go back to Pakistan? she wants to stay in UK as she was threatened that he will sort her out in Pakistan...

Any help is appreciated on what are her options now?
The friend does not mind her staying in his house as long its necessary.
