Querry on Eligibility for citizenship

Post by volssg » Tue Jul 16, 2013 11:08 am

Hi
I came to UK as a work permit dependent in 2006 I went back to India in 2009.

I joined my husband again in 2010 by applying Tier1 dependent visa from India.

My husband got his ILR in 2011 so I converted my visa to FLR(M) in 2011

Got my ILR in 2012 depending on 2 years residence requirement.

Now its more than 1 year after ILR. Wants to apply for citizenship after my husband got his british citizenship.

UKBA person is saying I have to wait until 2015 as i came to UK on tier1 dependent.

any suggestions please?

thanks in advance

Once he is British and you complete 3 years of residence, you can apply. It doesn't matter which visas you had in the past as long as you ILR when you apply.

Thank you so much for the reply.
one more little query. I hope you can help me

Can I replace my maiden name with my husbands familiy name on the naturalization application.

Basically all of my documents including current passport and visas still have my maiden name as last name . I would like to use this opportunity to change her last name to the same one as mine.

we do have our original marriage certificate and I would like to know if this good enough evidence for change in last name.

When my son is applying his british passport we used my maiden name only. Is this cause any problems afterwards when I change my surname on my application.

Just fill in the "new" last name you want to use in the form and attach the marriage certificate as proof. Should be enough.
