Possible to request for passport from home office

Post by pradz45 » Tue Jul 16, 2013 12:39 pm

Hi
I applied for DL a year ago.
Does anyone know if I can request them(HO) to return my passport.
That's the only proof of ID i had and i do need it urgently, but not for traveling purposes as i have no visa at the moment.

Please let me know.

Regards

@pradz45 you can't request the passport, if ask the passport without decide your case, your case will be invalid.

so what happens if i dont hear from them for another few years?
i have had a look and there are forms which can be used to request that.

I have heard that you can request your passport back for identification purposes, provided you do not intend to leave the country (which would invalidate the application). I do not have personal experience of this, but I believe the process is to write to the Home Office explaining why you need the passport and that it is for official identification purposes only. Importantly, you should emphasise that you do not wish to withdraw your application.
