Hi,
I am getting married this August and my wife will be applying for a dependent visa to come into UK. I am currently under Tier 2 general work permit and from what I gathered from Ukba website the maintenance requirement for her would be £600. However on consulting an agency they mentioned that I should also have £900 for myself which I did not have for a period. I now have a good amount of balance in an Indian account but that's a joint account with my dad and mom. The consultant said that it would be difficult to use the joint account and it does not guarantee the visa.
Firstly, should I really be showing £1500 as the maintenance fund?
If I need to use the joint account what supporting documents should I submit?
Regards,
Chaitanya

You just need to show £600 only. £900 is required when you would apply for Tier 2 with your dependent.
This is all described here http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas ... y/#header4
Yes you should use your own account.

Thanks for the quick response. It is such a relief. I understood the same thing and tried to argue with the consultant but he kept on saying that £1500 is a mandatory requirement.

One more query, I am planning to move to a new place a couple of weeks before leaving to India. Would the bank statement need to reflect the latest address?
