UK visitor visa

Post by ananyasuman » Tue Jul 16, 2013 9:06 pm

I wish to apply for a UK visit visa for three weeks. I am travelling alone. I seek your advice regarding the financial documents, employer letter and sponsorship of my travel.

I have 5lakh Indian rupees as fixed deposits (single account) in bank in India. Among these, 4 lakh rupees fixed deposits have been there for more than six months but 1 lakh rupees fixed deposit is made two months before. I also have 80,000 Indian rupee in my savings account which has been there for just four months. Is this sufficient to show my expenses in UK which is estimated to be 1.5 lakh rupees ? Any problem in showing the documents of 1, 00000 rupees and 80,000 rupees that are not six months old?

I have 3 lakh rupees (joint account with my husband) fixed deposits in a private money lending institution (not a nationalised bank) approved by the Reserve Bank of India. Are the documents regarding this joint account valid for submitting for visa? I do not have any other bank deposits or any immovable property in my name other than the above. Are these funds sufficient to meet the expense myself without any sponsorship of my husband or brother? Or do I need to seek the help of my husband to sponsor me.

My husband has own house and landed properties worth 3 crores rupees in his name. He has 7 lakh rupees fixed deposits in his single account with a bank. Do I need to show the documents regarding these landed properties along with the valuation of a chartered accountant and his bank statements to prove that I am financially fit? My husband is not applying for the visa. I am travelling alone.
Do I need to show my minor son`s passport copy to show that I have son and would return to India?

Both I and my husband are Advocates practising together in our office attached to our house. Although we work together, I do not have a specific salary. My husband does not have any tax return papers. He is handling the income but I get sufficient amount for my expenses as cash from him and I put thme in my savings account and also spent for my personal expenses. He would give me an employer letter stating these facts. Is this o.k. or do i need to get myself a self-declaration letter regarding out practice ?
Do I need to get a sponsorship letter / affidavit in stamp paper attested by notary stating that my husband will bear my expenses? Or can I show the financial documents of my husband just to show that I have roots and good financial status in my home country without his sponsorship?

I had been in UK for four years on student visa and upon the completion of the course I returned to India two years before. I got my student visa renewed to post study work visa. Meanwhile my husband and minor son had visited me for 1 month in London upon dependent visa. From there we had also visited to schengen countries as well. We never overstayed in UK.

This time I am applying to visit my brother and his wife who are living in London in Tier 2 work permit. Both of them are employed and have vacant room in their apartment to accommodate me. They are ready to send a tenancy agreement regarding this. Can my brother who is on dependant visa of my sister in law sponsor me as he has sufficient proof of funds in his bank statements? (I mean can a person on dependant visa sponsor me if he has own income enough to sponsor me?).

I would like to avoid using the sponsorship of my brother as far as possible and plan to book a hotel accommodation in London and use my family funds and financial documents (of my own and my husband`s). Is that enough to get my visa approved? Or do I need to take another route to get the visa by getting the sponsorship of my brother (his tenancy agreement, bank statements, payslips, invitation letter etc).

Which is ideal for me? ; 1) husband`s sponsorship, his properties and deposits and my own funds + own hotel accommodation booking Or 2) my own funds and my brother`s sponsorship and accommodation or 3) or husband`s sponsorship and brother`s simple invitation letter and accommodation proof or 4) my own funds, husband`s movable and immovable assets + brother`s sponsorship? Or 5) my own funds and invitation letter of brother without anybody`s sponsorship?

the visa form asks a question - have i ever received medical treatment in UK before? if yes did you pay for it. When I was in UK i registered with the GP. once i had an appointment with the GP for free but i paid for the medicines at the chemist from my own pocket. what should i answer - yes or no .

the visitor visa form aslo asks about national insurance number. I had one before. anything wrong in mentioning it. do they check the NI number and get records with the HMRC?
can i simply mention that i do not have any relatives in UK. or do i answer yes. the form asks for details of the relative and whether i intend to visit them?
please advice

Show all of the money that you will, or might, use to support your journey, including your husband's accounts. Make certain that it is obvious that you will have immediate access to this money as/when/if you need. The amounts you have given should be more than enough. Bring copies of your mortgage/ownership papers and copies of your business license. I'd think the copy of your son's passport and perhaps his birth certificate showing your names should suffice. Technically a person who is a dependent can't sponsor anybody. Would the sis-in-law be willing? I believe (though others should confirm) that since they are married, his funds can be used as the support showing she is capable of sponsoring you. That might need some more investigation on your part, and feedback from others here.

The ideal situation is always that you can sponsor yourself completely without any need for other funding. So that's the starting point, going from there I'd say adding your husbands funding to that is the next best thing. A critical point here is how much funding you would have available if needed immediately for use. If the purpose of your visit is to visit your brother, I'd probably go ahead and have a written invitation letter in any case.

From what you've said, you won't have any problems with the medical treatment question (answer 'yes'). The reason for this question is to find people who have previously used the NHS, were not eligible for free NHS as you were when you were a student, and have outstanding bills that still need to be paid. Those people will likely be refused entry, if they have already received a ban. You do not fit into this category.

I suspect that once you get an NI number, you get that for life. I don't know if they would check anything with the HMRC (is that a concern???), but they will certainly do a spot check on outstanding unpaid NHS bills, which in your case is not relevant.

Those last couple of paragraphs are very strange considering how well outlined the information is in the previous part of this post is. The quality of the typing has also taken a dive. Were these written by the same person who started this post?

In any case, do not lie. Do not ever lie. It will be found out and the results will be disastrous. You have strong immigration history with the UK and a strong background for getting a visit visa. Do nothing to change or threaten that.

Tell the truth even if it is inconvenient. To be successful in your application you have to show you have strong ties in your country job property etc.

Please don't give the ECO any reason to suspect you might overstay your visa.
