15 days processing deadline was a few weeks ago

Dear forum community,

I applied for a visa in the very beginning of June this year and 10 days after I got the following message: "Please be advised that further processing is required on your application and we will make a decision on your case at the earliest opportunity. The estimated processing time for your application has been revised and may now be up to 15 working days from today's date."

Those 15 days expired about 2 weeks ago and I heard no status updates from UKBA since that message in June. I am Canadian applying from Canada (but I know that all Vancouver applications are sent to UK consulate in New York)

Waiting is a very painful option for me because last year I had similar problem and the consulate took 1 day too long(literally) to process my visa for me to be able to attend my MBA program in UK. I got a deferral from my school... This year I am seeing the same issue again and I am not looking forward to asking for another deferral because of visa processing times. I applied 2 days after the earliest allowed application time (3 months before the start of the program) so there was not a lot of time I could have won had I applied earlier.

Has anyone experienced a similar problem? Is there anything I can do except for waiting?
